THE ORIGIN

My journey in technology started with video games. Having not grown up with technology up until I was 15 resulted in the obsession of playing games with my mom's new touch screen phone in the evenings because it also dubled as a her work phone during the day. The only rule was to ensure it was fully charged by morning 😂. The curiosity to learn how games are made and why they work on certain phones and not others led me into a rabbit hole that exposed me to software development.

It was during my 1st year of campus that I had a programming unit that exposed me to computer programming. The exposure to C and C++opened a pandora's box in my mind. Writing code never felt natural.

Then came networking. Pursuing CCNA 200-301 and exposure to networking architecture of how systems communicate clicked in a way nothing else had. I graduated with a BSc. in Electrical & Electronics Engineering from Kenyatta University and cloud was the natural next frontier.

Today I specialize in AWS architecture, Terraform automation, and production reliability. I've cut provisioning time by 85%, built event-driven pipelines that govern themselves, and kept systems at 99.9% uptime for thousands of concurrent users.

I'm now deepening my infrastructure-as-code practice — moving from console-first to Terraform-native, building reusable modules and GitOps pipelines that make cloud environments reproducible by default.

"The engineer's first problem in any design situation is to discover what the problem really is."

WHAT I DO

// ROLE.01

CLOUD ENGINEER

AWS-certified architect designing multi-account environments, event-driven automation, and cost-optimized infrastructure. Fluent in VPC, IAM, Lambda, and the full AWS core stack. If it runs in the cloud, I want to understand and improve it.

AWS SAP-C02Multi-AccountCost Optimization
// ROLE.02

INFRASTRUCTURE ENGINEER

Terraform is my native language. I build reusable module libraries, enforce infrastructure consistency across environments, and replace manual processes with pipelines. Production reliability my top priority.

TerraformCI/CDIaC Automation
// ROLE.03

ELECTRICAL ENGINEER

The foundation. A BSc. in Electrical & Electronics Engineering gave me the systems thinking and technical rigor underlying everything I build. From circuits to cloud the mindset of understanding things at a fundamental level never left.

EXPERIENCE

Amazon Web Services FEB 2025 — MAY 2025 Internship
Cloud Support Associate
  • Resolved 20+ production incidents — VPC misconfigurations, IAM errors, ELB routing failures — maintaining 95% first-contact resolution rate.
  • Designed Terraform-based simulation framework cutting incident reproduction time from 90 minutes to 10 minutes, accelerating resolution by 60%.
  • Built CI/CD pipeline via CodePipeline + CloudFormation, reducing deployment cycles from 4+ hours to under 15 minutes.
  • Presented troubleshooting methodologies across 15+ Well-Architected case studies to senior engineering teams.
Infrastructure Engineer DEC 2023 — FEB 2025
Remote — Independent
  • Architected production-grade VPC environments for 3 organisations, reducing security incidents by 40% via multi-tier subnet design and security group hierarchies.
  • Built reusable Terraform module library cutting provisioning time from 40 minutes to under 10 minutes across dev, staging, and prod.
  • Deployed Lambda + EventBridge automation pipeline enforcing tagging policies and compliance across 5 AWS accounts, reducing manual audit work by 30%.
  • Delivered high-availability infrastructure (ALB, Route 53, multi-AZ) supporting 10,000+ concurrent users at 99.9% uptime.
  • Established CloudWatch dashboards and alerting cutting MTTR from 45 minutes to 15 minutes.

Builder

Selected as an AWS Community Builder for the Networking and Content Delivery Domain. AWS Community Builder program serves as a recognition by Amazon Web Services for individuals who actively share cloud knowledge, contribute to the community, and help others navigate the AWS ecosystem.

As a builder, I produce technical content on cloud architecture & infrastructure, Terraform, and Networking — helping engineers in Kenya,across Africa and globally access the same quality of knowledge.
